IBR - the Global Business School
IBR Institute of International Business Relations is the Global Business School at Steinbeis University Berlin. What is associated with "Global"?
Dr. Andreas Kelling, Director of IBR Institute of International Business Relations: "With a faculty lecturing around the world, a faculty representing Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and the Americas, we created a global business school, indeed. It is a school which is proud of the different nationalities and how these different nationalities contribute to our management education. We are not talking about visiting professors that would come and go whenever they are invited, but a very productive team of professors that are excited about developing innovative new programmes and implementing them as well. On the other side we are proud that we export global education with the quality seal 'MADE IN GERMANY'. All our educational programmes have been accredited on the highest quality standards set by the German industries.
What is global? With study locations in Germany, Holland, Hungary, India, Israel and Ukraine, IBR students automatically become members of a global learning community. They study in their home countries, are enrolled at a German university and have the possibility to travel to foreign countries in order to see and analyse on the spot other companies approach to becoming successful in a global world."
IBR at Steinbeis University Berlin
Steinbeis University Berlin is one of the largest private universities in Germany. Founded in 1998 in Berlin, it obtained the German state recognition through the Government of Berlin. Steinbeis University offers exclusively post-graduate studies on bachelors, masters and doctorate levels. All study programmes have a common foundation: the "project competence concept". Based on this concept, Steinbeis sets innovative national and international standards by transferring scientific know-how from the first day of study into practice.
The University is structured in eight different schools and institutes that form the university departments. IBR Institute of International Business Relations is one of them. Each of these schools/institutes has its own faculty that is involved in teaching and research activities.
In addition, Steinbeis University draws back on a large pool of additional applied oriented research, which is conducted by more than 900 professors in 70 Steinbeis Transfer Institutes and 700 Steinbeis Transfer Centres in Germany and abroad.
Management Education "MADE IN GERMANY"
Quality has always been at the heart of IBR. "If we analyse the roots of the success of the German economy, we quickly see that it is a highly educated work force that made this country exporter number one in the world. How is it possible to keep this position over years in a country where production is one of the most expensive in the world and the strength of your own currency disfavours exports? One of the keys is quality in education, quality made in Germany," so Dr. Andreas Kelling, Director of IBR Institute of International Business Relations.
In this tradition, IBR sought to develop and implement management education that would meet the highest criteria and associated standards, developed by German, Swiss and Austrian industries and employers' organisations. In 2005, IBR received a third accreditation through the Foundation of International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) who, according their report, consider the concept of the IBR MBA programme not only an example for German business schools, but label it trend setting for the whole European MBA community.
